Il Comune di Tratalias in collaborazione con il Comune di Cagliari, Capitale Italiana della Cultura 2015, lancia la call per la partecipazione a SulcisHUB, una residenza d’artista rivolta ai partecipanti di Mediterranea 17 Young Artist Biennale, Milano 2015.
L’attività di residenza ha l’obiettivo di far entrare in contatto gli artisti con un territorio ricco di storia e archeologia dalla antichissima civiltà nuragica ai primi insediamenti fenici, dalla natura incontaminata agli antichi saperi artigiani fino all’affascinante archeologia industriale delle ex miniere abbandonate antica eredità della presenza cartaginese che per prima ha sfruttato le risorse minerarie. Un mix di informazioni per arricchire il proprio bagaglio culturale e stimolare nuove riflessioni creative attraverso la volorizzazione della memoria del territorio e dell’abilità artigiana, rielaborandoli in un progetto creativo da sviluppare in loco. Un Hub di scambio artistico che unirà in un unico luogo paesi, culture, lingue, esperienze, storie, e dove la stessa isola situata al centro del Mediterraneo sarà il fulcro per la costruzione di nuove reti creative.
L’idea nasce dalla proficua esperienza di contaminazione tra giovani designer e artigiani che ha dato vita alla collezione di oggetti SulcisLab, realizzato per il rilancio dell’artigianato del Sulcis Iglesiente e presentato in mostra alla 17ma edizione della Biennale di Milano (www.facebook.com/SulcisLab).
La volontà del Sindaco di Tratalias è quella di offrire una residenza a giovani artisti per valorizzare e far conoscere l’antico borgo recentemente recuperato e ristrutturato nel quale si sono insediati laboratori di artigiani locali per sviluppare il loro progetto imprenditoriale (http://www.sardegnaabbandonata.it/tratalias-vecchia/).
Regolamento per la partecipazione
1) Gli artisti saranno selezionanati dal curatore del progetto insieme a Bjcem tra quanti hanno partecipato all’esposizione della Biennale a Milano e che invieranno la loro candidatura alla segreteria organizzativa di Bjcem bjcem.aisbl@gmail.com entro il 10 gennaio 2016.
2) La residenza si svolgerà a Tratalias nella primavera 2016 e avrà la durata di una settimana
3) I ragazzi saranno seguiti da un tutor e accompagnati in visita al territorio e alle botteghe artigiane (tessitura, ceramica, coltelleria, lavorazione del legno). In arrivo è prevista una visita ai principali musei della città di Cagliari.
4) A conclusione della residenza sarà organizzata una mostra dei progetti.
5) L’ospitalità è offerta dal sindaco di Tratalias, il costo del viaggio sarà a carico degli artisti.
6) I partecipanti dovranno inviare il proprio curriculum vitae, un portofolio con una selezione di 5/10 lavori (pdf) e una lettera di motivazione e interesse di adesione al progetto.

SulcisHUB | ARTIST’S RESIDENCY

The Municipality of Tratalias, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Cagliari – 2015 Italian Capital of Culture – launches SulcisHUB, an artists’ residency programme for emerging artists, product and fashion designers, selected among the participants of the Mediterranea 17, Young Artists Biennale, Milan 2015.
The residency aims to develop a creative network through the knowledge of the Sulcis region, with its extraordinary landscape and cultural patrimony.
During their stay in Sulcis, the young artists will visit the archeological sites – Nuragic and Phoenician both – the former mines sites and the artisans workshops in order to explore, enjoy and be inspired by the multilayered identity of the place.
SulcisHUB will become the crucial place where the artisans and the young artists will share their creativity, techniques, visions and skills for future projects. SulcisHUB is a development of the remarkable cooperation that occurred between the young creatives and the artisans, which is at the basis of the SulcisLab collection, presented during the last edition of the 2015 Biennale in Milan (www.facebook.com/SulcisLab).
The selected artists will be hosted in the ancient village of Tratalias, renowned for its Romanesque architecture and located in the rural region of Sulcis (http://www.sardegnaabbandonata.it/tratalias-vecchia/). Tratalias recently underwent a through restoration phase and its Major decided to grant for free some of the ancient buildings to the artisans, where they will establish their workshops.
Eligibility and Submissions:
1) The project is open to artists coming from all the different artistic fields. The artists will be selected by the curator of the project in collaboration with BJCEM among the participants of the Milan exhibition, which will send their application to:

2) The residency will take place in Tratalias, during spring 2016. It will last a week.
3) A tutor will follow and support the young artists during the residency. They will visit some workshops (fabrics, potteries, goldsmith’s, cutleries, carpentries), archeological sites, former industrial sites in the Sulcis region and the Museums in Cagliari, in order to be inspired, learn and eventually create a local collection.
4) An exhibition dedicated to the young artists’ works, drawings and projects will take place at the end of the residency.
5) Municipality of Tratalias will grant hospitality for 10 or 12 people. The travel costs have to be provided directly by the artists.
6) Applicants must send their resume, portfolio with selected 5/10 works (pdf) and a cover letter.
