Invitation to participate in the Cultural Olympiad Sarajevo 2025

The Cultural Forum in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in collaboration with the International Peace Center – International Festival Sarajevo Winter (a BJCEM member), is organizing the Cultural Olympiad Sarajevo 2025, which is taking place from June 21 to December 21, 2025.

The event is being implemented with the support of the State Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Cooperation with UNESCO, chaired by Ms. Dubravka Bošnjak, Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and under the patronage of Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, Mr. Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, and Mr. Denis Bećirović, Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The organizers are inviting cultural and artistic institutions, organizations, and networks in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad to join as co-organizers of this international artistic festival. The event will include a wide range of creative, cultural, and artistic activities aimed at fostering dialogue, collaboration, and mutual exchange.

The Cultural Olympiad is based on the Art Manifesto, developed with artists from across the globe during the first online edition of the Olympiad in 2021. Sarajevo 2025 aims to be a unique celebration of global creativity, presenting a Creative Cultural Calendar with contributions from all areas of the arts.

Artists and institutions are encouraged to participate by presenting work either in Bosnia and Herzegovina or in their own countries, in coordination with the organizers. Particular focus is placed on the simultaneous opening and closing ceremonies to be held on June 21 and December 21, 2025, in different parts of the world. These shared moments are intended to send a unified artistic message promoting the right to culture, freedom of expression, peace, development, human dignity, and solidarity.

The year 2025 is also significant as it marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and UNESCO, the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
