Biennale di Torino 1997
Over a thousand persons, including artists, cultural operators, critics and journalists, participated in the Turin Biennial of Young Artists of Europe and Mediterranean, from 19 countries (Albania, Algeria, Cyprus, Bosnia, Croatia, Egypt, France, Jordan, Greece, Israel, Italy, Malta, Palestine, Portugal, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey).
Theatre, music, visual arts, gastronomy, comic-strip, emerged together in a wide-ranging programme embracing 15 different artistic disciplines.
Over 140 thousand people attended the 334 appointments forming part of the event (International Biennial, High Tide, On the Wave of the Biennial, Biennial Off, Mediterranean Islands, Biennial On-Line). A great feast of youth creativity which animated the city with colour and brought young artists in search of a future into contact with the market, the experts and the press.
But above all, it developed a genuine and informal comparison between hundreds of young people on the subject of their work, adding comprehension and communication between the shores of a tormented sea.
