Workshop On art "Alexandrie - Marseille - Naples"
Alexandria Marseilles Naples, April 17th to 30th 2005
For several years now, the cities making up the Biennial's network propose workshops to the selected artists prior to the event itself. Ranging from three to five for the preceding biennials, approximately a dozen workshops will be organized between February and May 2006 in Alexandria, Bologna, Hyères, Istanbul, Ljubjana, LaVallette, Marseilles, Milan, Sarajevo, Rome and Venice.
These workshops serve a twofold purpose: to provide young artists with an instructive and artistic collective experience as well as to favor encounters and exchanges between artists from different cities, before and after the Biennial.
Principle
Host cities propose a subject and artistic supervisors for the workshop. Only graduates of the biennial may apply. The "curators" select fifteen to twenty young creators to participate in the workshop. The result will be presented in Naples and/or in the different cities where the workshops are held.
The workshop represent an interesting and constructive initiative in that they allow participating artists to arrive at the Biennial with contacts established beforehand and thus get more benefits out of the event.
This program is developed within the context of actions carried out by the BJCEM International Association between Biennials. It is the concrete expression of our will to provide selected artists with opportunities to meet others, acquire technical skills and gain international experience.
