Inizjamed (Mediterranean Cultural Initiative) is a voluntary organization, founded in 1998 and based in Malta, that promotes socially and politically committed culture and actively promotes a greater awareness of the Mediterranean and its cultural and environmental realities.

The internal organization of Inizjamed is not based on the traditional concept of a hierarchical organization with a central committee and a pool of dormant members. Inizjamed's initiatives are coordinated by an organizing team of five persons who have different but complementary cultural and academic backgrounds.

Each project has its own coordinator who then involves people from various areas of culture who share, by and large, Inizjamed's vision.

We have collaborated with international artists and writers the like of Kevin McNeil, Miro Villar and Menna Elfyn. We are currently working in collaboration with the British Council on a project called Klandestini, which brings together Malta, Cyprus, Greece and Italy in creative writing workshops with established artists like Sinead Morrissey and Maurice Riordan. Inizjamed (Mediterranean Cultural Initiative) est une organisation fondée en 1998 et basée à Malte. Elle s'occupe de mettre en évidence les implications sociales et politiques de la culture, et de développer une plus grande conscience des réalités de la Culture et de l'environnement Méditerranéen.

L'organisation interne d'Inizjamed n'est pas fondée sur le concept traditionnel d'une organisation hiérarchique, avec un comité central et un ensemble de membres en sommeil. Les initiatives d'Inizjamed's sont coordonnées par une équipe de 5 personnes ayant chacune un parcours et une expérience différente, mais complémentaire.

Chaque projet a son propre coordinateur et implique des personnes issus de différents secteurs, qui partagent généralement, la philosophie d'Inizjamed's.

Nous avons collaboré avec des artistes internationaux et des écrivains tels que Kevin McNeil, Miro Villar et Menna Elfyn. Nous travaillons actuellement en collaboration avec le British Council sur un projet nommé « Klandestini », qui réunie Malte, Chypre, la Grèce et l' Italie, dans le cadre d'atelier d'écriture dans lesquels prennent part des artistes comme Sinead Morrissey et Maurice Riordan. Inizjamed è un'organizzazione culturale non-governativa fondata a Malta nel 1998. I suoi membri, non retribuiti, sono impegnati a rivitalizzare la cultura e l'espressione artistica nell'arcipelago maltese e a promuovere una maggiore coscienza delle culture del Mediterraneo. Inizjamed è una organizzazione laica e apartitica che ritiene dovere di ogni generazione creare il proprio linguaggio e collocarsi nel proprio contesto storico, senza tuttavia perdere la capacità di guardare al di là di questo.
