Arci is a social, civic and independent promotion association.
At the moment, it has 1.200.000 members, 6.000 clubs and structures throughout the national territory, 126 territorial committees and 20 regional committees. With its structure, Arci constitutes a vast democratic network and a network of participants.
Arci is involved in the promotion and development of the associative system as a factor of social cohesion, as a place for civil and democratic involvement, it affirms the rights of citizens and fights against any form of exclusion and discrimination.

Arci is an autonomous association, the expression of a deeply rooted and articulate civil democracy. It is an independent organization based on self-funding deriving from the contribution of its members.
Arci was founded in 1957 from the clubs and low-income housing and is characterized by its activities in recreational time, culture and civil representation. With the crisis being experienced by the traditional welfare model, Arci is being gradually transformed from a mutual organization for protecting and offering services to its members, into an associative system whose general objectives are addressed to creating services for the citizens.

Arci operates in the following fields of activity:
Emphasizing the associative system and developing the network of its clubs;
Developing and protecting local networks and procedures for the self-organization of citizens;
Promoting and supporting the Third Sector and the Social Economy;
Fighting to eliminate social and political exclusion and to establish solidarity (immigration, anti-racism, hospitality, prisons, mental conditions, alienation)
International solidarity and cooperation towards development
Social and cultural promotion
Education with respect to legality and fighting against criminal and the Mafia
Civil service and conscientious objection
Activities for children and adolescents
