Mediterranea 19 Young Artists Biennale

During BJCEM General Assembly held in Lecce today, it was unanimously approved the candidacy of the Republic of San Marino to host, in October 2020, Mediterranea 19 Young Artists Biennale, the nineteenth edition of the Biennial of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean.
The Director of the Cultural Institutes Vito Testaj spoke in front of BJCEM Assembly representing also the Secretary of State for Education and Culture Marco Podeschi and the Government of the Republic of San Marino, with the participation of BJCEM representatives for the Republic of San Marino: Rita Canarezza for the Cultural Institutes – National Gallery San Marino, Karen Venturini for the University of the Studies of the Republic of San Marino.

One of the symbolic places of Mediterranea 19, will be the National Gallery of San Marino, the new Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art inaugurated On July 7, 2018. Other places will be the former Monastery of Santa Chiara, the current site of the degree courses in Design, the former Railway Galleries, the ancient cisterns of Palazzo Pubblico, the theaters of the Historical Centers of Città and Borgo Maggiore.
The scientific cutatorial and the concept of the Biennale will be managed by the young curators of “A Natural Oasis?”, a transnational research project promoted since 2014 by the Cultural Institutes of San Marino in collaboration with the University, in the franework of BJCEM Network.
Mediterranea 19 Young Artists Biennale – Republic of San Marino 2020 is the culmination of the extraordinary collaboration, started in 1992 that sees San Marino among founding members of BJCEM in 2001 in Sarajevo. Mediterranea 19 will allow artists, curators, representatives of associations and art centers, from all over Europe and from the countries bordering the two shores of the Mediterranean, to live together from 23 to 28 October, in the amazing UNESCO setting of the Republic of San Marino, sharing their artistic and cultural research.

Nel corso dell’Assemblea Generale BJCEM, tenutasi a Lecce, il 19 ottobre 2018, è stata approvata all’unanimità la candidatura della Repubblica San Marino a ospitare, nel mese di ottobre 2020, Mediterranea 19 Young Artists Biennale, la diciannovesima edizione della Biennale dei Giovani Artisti dell’Europa e del Mediterraneo.
All’Assemblea di Lecce è intervenuto il Direttore degli Istituti Culturali Vito Testaj anche in rappresentanza del Segretario di Stato per la Pubblica Istruzione e Cultura Marco Podeschi e del Governo della Repubblica di San Marino, e i rappresentanti BJCEM per la Repubblica di San Marino: Rita Canarezza per gli Istituti Culturali – Galleria Nazionale San Marino, Karen Venturini per l’Università degli Studi della Repubblica di San Marino.

Uno dei luoghi simbolo di Mediterranea 19, sarà la Galleria Nazionale di San Marino, il nuovo Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea inaugurato il 7 luglio 2018. Altri luoghi saranno l’ex Monastero di Santa Chiara, attuale sede dei corsi di laurea in Design, le ex Gallerie Ferroviarie, le antiche cisterne di Palazzo Pubblico, i teatri dei Centri Storici di Città e Borgo Maggiore.
La curatela scientifica e il concept della Biennale saranno affidati ai giovani curatori di “A Natural Oasis?” progetto transnazionale di ricerca promosso dal 2014 dagli Istituti Culturali di San Marino in collaborazione con l’Università, proprio all’interno del Network BJCEM.
Mediterranea 19 Young Artists Biennale – Republic of San Marino 2020 rappresenta il culmine della straordinaria collaborazione, iniziata nel 1992 che vede San Marino tra soci fondatori della BJCEM stessa nel 2001 a Sarajevo.
Mediterranea 19 permetterà ad artisti, curatori, rappresentanti di associazioni e centri d’arte, provenienti da tutta Europa e dai paesi che si affacciano sulle due sponde del Mediterraneo, di vivere insieme dal 23 al 28 di ottobre, nella splendida cornice UNESCO della Repubblica di San Marino, condividendo la propria ricerca artistica e culturale.
